About OB Locksmiths
I commenced operating within the security / locksmith industry during the mid 1980’s, with our first retail shop in Phillip, ACT. The business ran for a period of 18 years with great success servicing the entire ACT region, including Government, Private and Residential sectors. As I always strived to provide 5 star customer service, and employed highly trained technicians our client base grew steadily due to these principles.
Forward to mid 1990 and I then made a decision to move up to Brisbane to further build on the security business and also capture a market for my fledgling tourism business. This was a difficult decision to make at the time as my client base was quite extensive and I valued our relationships that I had with our many clients. However, in hindsight it turned out to be the right move. Both the security and tourism business’s flourished to the point that I had to decide which one to scale back. I decided that the tourism business was going to be the number one priority, with the security locksmith business bubbling along in the background.
As the years ticked over and my resilience to constantly travelling began to fade reluctantly scaled back the tourism business, and in 2008 returned to Australia. Being able to take an extended break away from running a business to recharge, revitalise and find my mojo absolutely played a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter. Once back on deck, as we say, I then moved back into the security industry, reconnecting with those previous clients and developing relationships with new clients both locally and nationally. Whether by luck or good management I found myself travelling the globe once again and living outside of Australia, however this time enjoying every minute of this incredible journey.
Well along came COVID and this curtailed all international travel for many people, including myself. Returning to Australia on the 20th March 2020 was a bit of a shock. It seemed at the time that COVID had shut down Australia, however our industry was deemed an essential service so I pressed on, albeit much slower than normal. It was a very challenging period for all private business’s, including mine. As time went by things returned to normal and those business’s that remained were increasing their workloads, hiring staff and expanding, due to the economy getting back on track.
That brings us to 2024/2025 and the journey continues. I have returned to where it all began some 20 plus years previous to build a small enterprise, using my skills, training and experience to provide a unique and specialised security locksmith business, the latest iteration being “ OB Locksmiths “. It will be based around 5 star customer service, highly qualified and experienced technicians. There is a real need in the community at large to provide excellent customer service, with qualified professional technicians that have knowledge and experience within the security industry and their trade.
This time though its all about Customer Service, not so much about trying to make a million dollars. Our vision is to serve the ACT/NSW Communities and business sectors as best we can, with a service that is economical, professional and dedicated to our Clients individual security requirements.
